International care in Guangzhou

Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong Province and one of the nine cities and regions where China is piloting wholly foreign-owned hospitals under a work plan announced in late 2024. Alongside that, some of the city’s large university hospitals have opened dedicated international units.

Check the campus

Guangzhou’s major hospitals are spread across a very large metropolitan area. The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, for example, lists campuses in Yuexiu, Huangpu and Nansha, and its International Medical Center is at the Nansha campus rather than the historic main campus. Before you book travel or accommodation, confirm which campus and building your appointment is in.
